Having a boston terrier as part of your family can really be a joyful and exciting experience. However, it can also be a total disaster if your boston terrier is not properly trained and well-behaved. A nicely trained boston terrier will not only be happy and sociable, but also an excellent companion and addition to your family. Training your boston terrier really is not as difficult as you may think.

The boston terrier is often referred to as the "American Gentleman". I am pretty sure that you do not want your boston terrier to ruin their reputation, so make sure you properly train him!

You should start training your boston terrier as soon as you bring him home as a puppy. Even if you have an adult boston terrier that acts badly and still needs to be trained, you can still train him to be a very obedient & well-mannered dog. Training your boston terrier will not only make him better behaved, but training will also specify his position in the family pack. Without proper training, your boston terrier can really start to act out and show behavior problems such as excessive barking, biting, chewing on your belongings, peeing on the carpet. It really doesn't matter how old your boston is, you can still train him to be the well-mannered and obedient "American Gentleman" that he was meant to be.

Here are some basic things that your boston terrier should know:

Your boston terrier should be housebroken and should go potty outside, or in a designated spot that you specify. He should not just go wherever he wants.

Your boston should act nicely around other people as well as other dogs. When having company over, your boston terrier should not jump all over them. He should be calm and wait for them to pet him. He should NOT go crazy, run all around, and jump all over them. He should also be calm whem meeting other dogs - and not try to bite, or bully them.

Your boston terrier should obey to basic commands such as Sit, Down, Come, and Stay. Once your boston obeys those simple commands, you can start teaching him more advanced commands as well as some cool and fun tricks.

Finally, your boston should walk nicely on a leash, without trying to pull you. He should walk at your side and follow your lead. You should be in control, not him!

Having a well trained Boston Terrier will make him a wonderful addition to have as part of your family. It is very important to take the time to learn how to train your boston terrier. Give your boston terrier the training he needs to keep up his name as the "American Gentleman".
